Since Mat is not always with us in the studio, emailing him is the best way to ask question at home. I struggled so much during home time, for example rigging error with the skeleton and the control, he replies efficiently so that I can solve it as soon as possible which is very blessing!
The most recent problem I faced was the disappear of the pigs during render. The mesh of the pigs were absolutely there in the perspective view window but appear invisible in render that only left with the eyes, helmet and the trousers. This happened since I have apply a bump map through toon shading and I have been ignoring this for about two weeks which is very bad in terms of not finding a solution to solve it until a bigger problem arrives.
I suggested this issue to Mat during lesson and unfortunately he was not able to solve this at that time which made me so worried that I may have to start from building up the mesh again. Immediately I regret not pointing out the problem as soon as it happened which I will never do it again.
Fortunately! Mat took my project home and he solved it literally just by a few clicks.
He instructed me to check out the boxes inside the render states in the attribute channel, suggested that I might have accidentally un-tick those important boxes that cause the disappearing of the pigs in render. After doing so, the pigs are back!!!
This teaches me not to touch the boxes unless I know the function and effects they have on the mesh, otherwise really not a smart ideas to mess with the buttons. Also, ask question straight away when struggling and never wait!
