Disaster happen when I try to remember the video guide while rigging the second character. What happened now has happened before which is the skeleton goes weird when orientating the controllers with the skeleton. The value of the joint changes when it should not. Last time when this the happened to the first character, Mat told me that I have froze the transformations on the orient group instead of the controller so they are all oriented to the world coordinates. Since there are no quick fix, I have to redo all from unparenting to create new orient group.
This time, I have correct the whole process for three times but the skeleton still end up weird in terms of changing the orientation while constraining and this is when I decided to watch the video guides again...
I found out that I have group the orient group with the controllers instead of the skeleton!! How stupid I am and that was the forth time redoing that part of the rigging process and I swear this would never happen again in the future. It is quite funny how I insist to not refer to the video guide and create such chaos but on the other hand I will remember this for sure after failing, although people also say you only learn after you fail, there is nothing more powerful than experiencing these words.
After rigging, coloring weight is the next step to do and I have no problem doing so.
This is a good experience that gained during rigging. Although 3D is not what I really interested in, I slowly find a sense of joy while using maya. It is important to remind myself that modeling character in 3D is still animating, giving a life to the character is what I am aiming for at the end of the day.
