Telling Tales:Communicating with partner

During modelling the characters, Joe is in charge of the backgrounds and we send picture to each other, reporting progress al,out everyday to ensure we know what each other is working on and facing the same direction of the project.

Joe's art work is absolutely amazing and he sent me a slot of drawings of the barn that is going to be model in maya. We both agree to combine a few of them into one and have windows and trees that the camera can penetrate through in order to give the scene some depth.

This is working process of the barn and the fence Joe has been patiently and delicately working on. He said there are over 300,000 edges on the fence and it takes a long time to render so that they need to be reduced into smaller numbers. (Although they look absolutely perfect in my point of view, very realistic and beautifully constructed!)

With the dawn and sunset at the back, the barn changes the feel and the atmosphere with the shadows and the colours. This is the style what we are basically aiming for and this will have an effect on the characters as well.

I really like the details Joe puts into the barn for example the barrels, the random arrange of the wooden wall and the roof which are all very graphic novel and cinematic. Architecture is what I am not good at, looking at this barn, I think a form of neatness does not necessarily look beautiful, in order to achieve the natural look of the building, a mix with untidiness might make it more realistic.

The darker the shadow introduce a mysterious atmosphere to the surrounding, this is suitable for the pigs to dig sneakily at night and maybe explaining the map in order to plan for the escape.
