Colour Box 1935-6 Len Lye
This animation is done by painting on the actual film, the sequence is shown when the film is rolling which contains various patterns and colours companied by energetic music and movement. This was a innovative animation at that time because it is not about the narrative but the sound, visual effects and the feel. Audience experienced a totally new sensation by watching the energetic music and movement and could focus on the overall artistic product instead of characters. This might be an open door to abstract animation and animation might not be only about story telling but also sharing emotional experience with personal aesthetic style. This animation is some different to others that were released at the same time, obviously not everyone would understand the art behind at that period but it was definitely a successful achievement to expand the range of animation.
