A traditional Zoetrope is a cylinder animation device that contains a set of sequenced pictures or photographs which spins to give out an illusion of movement. It was usually small and have not much colour. This device tricks our mind to create an illusion in our mind to let us see the moving images which also represent the improving technology and scientific knowledge at that time.
In the modern days, 3D zoetropes appear in the society and bring a totally different perspective to the zoetropes we know. The device is no longer a cylinder shape which is open to more audience and the whole sequence is shown honestly at the same time. The new zoetropes consist of 3D objects instead of 2D drawings and every movement is needed to be calculated precisely in order to achieve the accurate motion. I think the 3D zoetropes offer a opportunity for audience to understand the mechanism of animation and hence provide a more impressive visual impacts.
