The first lesson we have at the beginning of this Academic year! I was very excited about it even though the brand new project is all about using Maya. This time we are not working solo but to find a partner to cooperate together from storyboard to animate in Maya which I doubted at first because I have never been in a team before however this would be a great challenge for my confidence. We are developing a narrative using titles given and create two characters in Maya in a one minute animation. It can be dialogue-less so it would be mainly focus on the body language and how well the models are constructed with Maya.
We had a quick induction on Maya and played with a demo model that we can move its joins and limbs like a professional! It could model any poses and extremely interesting to play with! I love how the joins are restricted at some point just like human that brings some reality to the character and the twist of the muscles make it even more realistic.
I paired up with Joe and we decided to go for a human character and an animal possibly after our brainstorm. Basing on these titles(We think they can be mixed or multi-titled)
<Leap of Faith><Opposites Attract><The Message><Last Chance><Rivals>
My ideas:
Rose and Nightingale
Chicken Vs Farmer
Spy Story
Spider and Insects
Elephant and Giraffe
Human Vs bugs
Computer world
Food war
Life as stationary
Joe's ideas:
Human Vs Diseases
Chase
Hunting
WW2 Pilots
Prisoners of War
High School Rivalry
Business owners
Love story
Salary man lifestyle
Bad relationship
Post apocalyptic story
Since we are both not partially good at Maya (unfortunately) so the story shall not be including too many sub characters but this might alter by our skills in Maya. Therefore we decide to use Farm animals Vs Farmer or Hunting as the topic. I wish I could be very good at Maya at the end of this project and solve problems by experimenting and exchanging techniques from each other. It would be critical to manage the time well so I am going to create a timetable for the rest of this year.
